Bali Festival in Semarang

Bali Festival and the parade of Ogoh ogoh in Semarang.

On Tuesday March 12, 2013, Balinese people celebrated its New Year (Caka Calendar). The day is called Nyepi, It’s a day of total silence through out the island. People are not allowed to go out, light and fire are not allowed as well and  no traffic including air traffic. In all this situasion, it is the time to reflects  your life in silence.
This is a quite different way to celebrate the new year. See how you celebrate yours :)
Prior to 'Nyepi' the Balinese have a Festival of Ogoh ogoh ( demon statue). Balinese community in Semarang had this festival in Sunday 10th March 2013. The Parade start from Semarang City Hall to Simpang Lima. On every crossroad and T junction the satues statue of Ogoh ogoh are rotated counter clockwise, when this is done the music is also played very loudly and we can really feel the atmosphere of the festival.
