INDONESIA'S SKETCHERS FIRST NATIONAL EXHIBITION

We are proud and ecstatic to announce that we finally have a national exhibition. Featuring more than 30 active sketchers from 6 big cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Medan), we hunted the Kingdom of Netherlands legacy and heritage in our cities to produce this exhibition. We are fully supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy and Cultural Division, the Erasmus Huis and is given from April 2nd to 30th 2015 to showcase our works in their savvy gallery.
We will conduct some workshops and sharing session with friends and anybody who's interested in the art of live sketching during the exhibition period (details will be announced.) It is a great honor to get this opportunity and we're looking forward to work together with them again.

Below is Indonesia's Sketchers exhibition's synopsis:

In commemorating its 200th anniversary as a monarchy country, the Kingdom of Netherlands attempts to retrace its legacy and heritage on the land of Indonesia. The record of this legacy and heritage are witnessed and recorded by the Indonesia’s live sketching community called Indonesia’s Sketchers. Through six major cities of Java island; Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, and also Medan, in the island of Sumatra, all sketchers hunted back the long record of Indonesia’s history from the buildings of Netherland’s legacy in the cities that they live in by approaching the object of history and its environment. The Indonesia’s Sketchers collaborates with Erasmus Huis, as the main force in the Kingdom of Netherland’s cultural campaigner in this country, presents a sketch exhibition by offering a nostalgia of the past, a historical bound of Indonesia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands through an architectural magnificence live recording activity in ink, watercolor and other medias in a present day context.

We dedicate this exhibition to Indonesia's Sketchers big family in more than 12 cities and villages all over the country. This is only the beginning.

Paggi, what a good idea to use as a theme. Something you could seek out across the country. When I was working in Medan one of the buildings that caught my eye was the Pos Kantoor, I sketched here : http://urbansketchersnewzealand.blogspot.co.nz/search/label/Indonesia
